What matters is the hole diameter: in this category there are plates with 25 mm, 30/31 mm, and Olympic receptacles with 50/51 mm. Measure the receptacle of your bar before ordering, since the systems are not compatible with each other. Weight levels range from 1.25 to 30 kg so you can progress in fine increments.
The plates consist of a plastic shell with cement filling, which makes them affordable, quiet when placing, and gentle on floors and furniture. Gripper variants also have grip openings for safe carrying and placement. The trade-off: at the same weight, they're more voluminous than cast iron, so you hit the bar load limit sooner.
Place the plates down in a controlled manner instead of dropping them - they're not bumper plates and the casing can get damaged by hard impacts. A damp cloth is enough for cleaning; you don't need aggressive cleaners. Always secure the plates on the bar with appropriate collars.
